Patching The Rear Cross Member

Rusted areas marked for cutting

The bottom of rear cross member next to the floor baords has been eaten by rust. The rear cross member is a major part of the main car structure. In addition, the bottom seatbelt nut attaches to it. After removing the floor pans, had a good look at the sills and found TONS of body filler nicely wrapped around an old plastic bag to form the general shape of the sill. Was that what held the car together! Scary!!!
