Interior Update

I am working on the final bits of the interior. Everything was replaced except the seat frames and console. I had an auto upholstery shop put the seats together. The complete interior kit is from Moss. I still need to add the chrome body molding so I can install the door cards. The console still needs to go in now that I have a new cigar lighter and console lid. I will be busy this weekend.

After buffing for a while the whole shop seemed covered with spots of compound. I decided I did not want to get the paint looking great before putting things back in the car. So I began installing major components. Engine/trans, peddle box, and heater. This is a '76 with a '71 motor/trans mated to an early rear diff. I suspect the PO had shelves of parts and cherry picked to put a whole car together. Anyway, the motor had a ZS carb and since that carb was not correct for the motor, I...

Using a buffer has been quite an experience. Having never used one before I took things slowly. I started out using a foam pad with Meguires light cut compound. Getting out the 1500 sanding scratches proved to be a challenge no matter what compound I used. I finally changed to a wool pad and that did the trick. I have the paint buffed up to polishing compound and will soon give it a wax. But there are other tasks to do first

A couple of weeks ago I finished painting the car. This is a culmination of 2 years of on again/off again body work. I have come a long way with this car and am glad to get to this point. I still need to wet sand and buff the clear coat, re-install everything and get a completely new interior and top. But for some reason it seams down hill from here.
