Thanks for adding me to this forum! I have a 99 Chevy tracker w/ @ 65k on it. Bought it from prior owner in 1/21. It was in great shape, and I have used it as a toad behind my class A. I actually live in Ensenada, Baja Mexico, 50 miles south of San Diego, and on the beach. I have towed the car @ 10K since 21. From beginning of ownership have had ongoing issues with rear brakes, and one time ROLLED IT on remote road in southern Baja, doing 25 mph (middle of day, no drinking or drugs involved). Had my late wife and dog in car. we survived OK< but had fixed locally and no other accidents but always issue with parking brake and brakes etc. having it serviced several times. My last mechanic did an overhaul of rear axle, INSISTING that because it was a 99, it was first year it had been a Chevy (transtition from GEO), and thus CHEVY installed a Chevy truck axle-rear end. THAT IN ITSELF sounded odd, but I went along with it(remember I am in Mexico, and rely on mechanics here than USA). So in last couple months rear axle and brakes have been replaced/rehabilitated. NOW the parking brake has issues---and NOW being told I need to replace BOTH a right and left parking brake? that sounds odd to me, but hey I'm a retired lawyer, not a mechanic so I'm not adept in these areas. I can only find a "right rear" parking brake, not a left? first question: are there TWO parking brake cables/etc.? Has anyone else had rear brake/axle issues? thanks for your help BB
