Installing The Rear End

Posted on: Sunday December 31, 2017

All, lots of us have struggled with and in most cases won against the heavy lump that turns the wheels. Some times the major problem has nothing to do with the rearend. The exhaust system, or back half of it needs to be gone, lots of places for the little Spitfire or GT6 to fight back. A couple of days before starting, put some penetrate on the brackets and pipe overlaps. While at it, give the rear long bolt, were it goes through the back a couple of shots. The bolt gets stuck in the collar of...

Running Lights.

My wife had trouble with her GT6 being gun metal gray and people just didn't see the car. Painted it red. Will properly have the same trouble with my Spit6, so installed LED running lights, they work good, about blinded me. They are 2 inch, so not over the top in size. Used the rear bumper side brackets to mount on a flat piece I left on that was part of late bumper framing. Fit right through the pulled forward grill and cut about 3 inches off the flat. Solid as a rock.

Really need a lift to get the bottom ones lined up, but laying on the floor will work, just the getting up part. LOL I used a 3/16 inch spring pin cut to size for the door handle pin, used fine needle nose to hold it in the hole, much easier. I still had the original plastic covers for the inside of the door. Don't know if I'm up...

Finished The Tunnel Upholstery Parts

Finished the tunnel upholstery parts and my fingers are sore. Used a heat gun to get things smoothed out and can live with it. Now to get it all screw down, always fun to line the old hole up, that might be impossible on these parts as they had all kinds of holes in them. Also got the speakers in yesterday, not much, but I won't be able to hear them anyway, but needed to fill a hole and the radio does have a phone Blue Tooth, what ever that is, wife finally gave me a phone and said keep it in...
